Volume 22, no. 24, p. 8415-8425, 2002. It has recently come to our attention that three of the plasmid constructs, namely, pSAC10, pSAC11, and pSAC16, which contained mutations in the distal downstream element (DDE) of the neo-HTB1 transcript, additionally contained a sequence inversion. This inversion occurred during reinsertion of the BamHI fragment into the pLJ31 plasmid (Fig. 1) and resulted in the HTB1 sequences being placed in the opposite orientation to the neo sequences. We were not aware of this error at the time of publication. As a result of this, the alterations to neo-HTB1 mRNAs emanating from plasmids pSAC10, -11, and -16, described in Fig. 2 and 3, cannot solely be accounted for by the mutations in the DDE and should be considered invalid. This does not negate the other findings described in the paper.
