Two complementary nonfluorescent fragments of cyan fluorescent protein or yellow fluorescent protein produce fluorescent complexes of different colors when brought together by interactions between Myc/Max/Mad proteins fused to each fragment. This enables simultaneous visualization of the cellular localization of multiple complexes in the same cell. The images shown were obtained in multiple experiments.
