HeLa cells transiently expressing progesterone receptor B isoform (PR-B) were cotransfected with control vector, wild-type p27, or a mutant p27 that cannot bind to and inhibit cyclin-dependent protein kinases. A significant portion of liganded PR-B was retained in the cytoplasm only in cells containing wild-type p27. These data implicate cyclin-dependent protein kinase 2 in ligand-dependent PR-B nuclear accumulation. (See related article in December 2004, issue 24: vol. 24, p. 10542.)
