Expression of LKLF is restricted to endothelial cells in embryos, as shown by in situ hybridization analysis of mouse embryo sections. The related article describes the requirement for the extracellular signal-regulated kinase 5 mitogen-activated protein kinase in the myocyte enhancer factor 2-dependent regulation of the lklf gene. (See related article on p. 8553.)
