About the Cover

Cover Figure

Cover photograph (Copyright © 2007, American Society for Microbiology. All Rights Reserved.): The P-body component EDC3 (enhancer of decapping 3) functions in mRNA decapping. Shown is the crystal structure of the N-terminal domain of EDC3, which adopts a divergent Sm fold. This domain interacts with decapping protein 1 (DCP1) and targets EDC3 to mRNA-processing bodies or P-bodies. In the background, confocal images of Drosophila Schneider cells show the localization of EDC3 in cytoplasmic P-bodies. (See related article on p. 8600.)
